Hi,

some days ago I started this resin kit from Gass.

Body was quite ok, minor corrections, primed and covered with white

On photos upper part you see the seatbelts of the kit :crying: , on the lower part of the photos you can see the start of better seatbelts, using fabric belts from www.automobilminiaturen.de

Nice start Micha

I even haven't started mine since the review... and still haven't contact Gass to replace my body which will need much work to fix the resin bubles over the front hood that are on my kit... :sly:

Will follow you build closely ! :naughty:

Your "quick mock-ups" look better than my finished models!!

Great work Micha on a very interesting "blast from the past" kit

Thanks for the comments

Today I checked the decals - not so good, the Rothmans blue is too dark IMO and there arenīt enough decals for all blue areas. So Iīm thinking about masking and airbrushing the blue ...

Here a photo of the real car ...

Hi,

those blue decals coming in the kit are not enough, in the rear it is necessary to make the body blue, however I decided to airbrush all blue areas.

Over white and blue I airbrushed some clear and started sanding

next are the decals ...

Nice looking car!!! I'm tuned. Just as an fyi, I will stake big bucks that that belt material is standard craft ribbon you can get from pretty much any craft store. It's dirt cheap too, so I hope they're not charging much for it. If you buy some wider stuff you can slice off the edging if you like. Actually, real belts kinda look like that, but it's not to scale. I'm not knocking the belts btw, they look very good as does the whole car. Very nice work.

Wow... :naughty:

Very nice result, another great rally car you're building and showing here !

I've decided to paint mine too when I'll build it (which other choice do we have ?) but whish to get a paint result as good as yours !
what reference or code paint did you use ?
I have a Motip can for Rothmans color...

I'm also casting the wheels these days, especially the rear ones I find a bit too deep... Did you notice (or do you think) that too ?

I intend to maybe build the Safari version I started over a Bburago model years ago so I will need to remake front wheels (no deep spokes) and rear wheels (deep spokes but according to me less than the Gass ones) starting from the cast of the kit's rear ones.

it's great to see a new kit that hasn't been built here yet, this looks excellent and is one of my all time favourite rally cars.

I'm guessing you cant get hold of these kits anymore?????

Yes Phil, painting the blue is necessary. I had Rothmann blue as a basic colour from automobilminiaturen.de, probably not available at the moment. Concerning the rear wheels Iīll take new insert also from autominiaturen.
The safari issue is also great, decals are in the kit, but you also need different tires and have to scratch some parts
