01 Tahoe flickering clustertahoe4x4guy 12-26-2008, 11:16 AM Hey everyone my Tahoe has had a problem with the instrument cluster lights flickering, now it only seem to be the digital mileage and the stereo lights that flicker and it is only when you come to a stop and idle.As you accelerate it stops stops flickering. Also as you drive usually in the first few minutes or so the dash lights flash on and then back off as if the truck stalled but there is no interruption in the driving of the truck and it doesn`t affect the radio as it would if the truck did stall. So i was curios if anyone else had this problem or a possible solution.:smokin: Thanks Tahoe4x4guy roadrunner2 12-26-2008, 04:59 PM Hey everyone my Tahoe has had a problem with the instrument cluster lights flickering, now it only seem to be the digital mileage and the stereo lights that flicker and it is only when you come to a stop and idle.As you accelerate it stops stops flickering. Also as you drive usually in the first few minutes or so the dash lights flash on and then back off as if the truck stalled but there is no interruption in the driving of the truck and it doesn`t affect the radio as it would if the truck did stall. So i was curios if anyone else had this problem or a possible solution.:smokin: Thanks Tahoe4x4guy I've not had this 'flickering' problem with my '02 Tahoe but with my '00 Silhouette. It turned out there was a (too long) bolt turned into the back of the alternator that caused interference. My independent tech got a replacement bolt ($1.25 in a sealed plastic envelope yet) from GM and no more problem since. The fact that GM obviously knew this problem MAY happen, it wasn't offered for free. He never charged me for the fifteen minutes time he used so that following Xmas I got him a bottle of his favorite wine. This fellow has saved me a LOT of money over the last 20 years on vehicle repairs. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
