94 GMC jimmy battery gauge drops

My battery gauge drops to half while at stoplights. Once I start moving again the gauge rises to a more normal level. It seems the more I drive it the more it drops(when I'm driving 20mins+ at one time). I took it into the garage and they say it tests out fine. Would that even be possible? As far as I know a dropping battery gauge isn't normal. I just replaced the alternator so I don't think that is the issue. Any idea what the problem might be?
Thanks in advance,
Jerry

Does it keep battery charged good?
Voltage drop after battery is charged back up.
May be normal.
Put a volt meter on it and see what the actual voltage is doing.
With heater and lights and wipers on at a stop light at slow rpm the alt may not be able to hold up voltage to full voltage.
And dash voilt meter may be off some to.

Post back actual voltage readings at battery?
