engine temp guage showing lil cool

97 lesabre custom with guages. temp shows in the middle of 100-200 range when driving and idle. when prolonged idle it goes up to 200 then fans come on and bring back down to approx 150.

you think the guage is off or is my thermostat bad or has someone put in cooler one on?

if cooler, will this affect the computer timing and stuff. shouldnt stock be 195 degrees? thanks joe

It could be the gauge, hook a scanner up to verify the temp.

The gauge on my 99 is way off also. When it shows 200 it is really 235 or so when the fans come on.

I have scangauge IIs in both my LeSabres and the thermostats are spot on with real temps in the 180-190's usually.
