driver side door key cylinderRyguy45 12-20-2008, 10:13 PM Hello everyone, The keyhole on the driver side door of my 93 camry will not turn at all. I can put the key in all the way, but I cannot turn it in either direction. The door opens and closes fine and the power windows and locks work fine. I have to go to the passengers side and unlock the drivers side from there. My guess is a tumbler is either broken or stuck in the lock cylinder. I tried spraying a generous amount of WD-40 into the keyhole but it still did not budge. Does anyone have any suggestions? How should I go about repairing this problem? Thanks! I don't know if the drivers/passengers lock cylinders are interchangable; but if they are you could go that route too. Good Luck. My '02 is silver and due to the overwhelming numbers of silver rides around here, my driver door lock has been trashed by goofs who've stuck a key in my door and after twisting and bitching, realized the've got the wrong car. Gonna have it painted or trade it - not kdding! Brian R. 12-21-2008, 03:17 PM First try a lock-deicer (if your weather is appropriate) and/or a real penetrating oil like PBBlaster. WD40 is not a penetrating oil. Then tap the lock gently with a plastic hammer or something gentle. If you get it freed up, flush the oil out of the lock with a spray electronic solvent and plenty of rags to absorb the run-off. Let it dry or blow it out with air, and then lube it with a graphite powder. Ryguy45 12-22-2008, 03:22 AM I used deicer and it worked! I guess the cold weather got to it.
