86 Jimmy - NEED to open hood manually ASAP

hood latch cable is frozen...in the middle of a big snow storm, and need to get the hood open to get the truck started so i can plow my rental property so i dont get sued when some dumbass falls and gets hurt.
I am willing to break the primary hood latch

I am not 100% on the 86, but when the one went on my 92 I was able to stick a Torx driver into the latch under the hood and pop it that way. The reason I used a Torx driver was so it wouldn't slip. I would be willing to bet that you could get a regular screwdriver in there, if it's the same. It may be totally different though, since they have diff front ends on them.

As said look in there and see if you can pop it open at the latch
Is the cable broke or froze or just the hood latch handle broke?
I have saw people take a pait of plyers and pull the cabel part from inside to open hood.
Also sometimes slaping the hood on top front will jar it open.
Can you get the grill out with opening hood?

This is for a 92. May help for your 86.
Take off splash guard (if equipped).
Use enough extensions from underneath to get to the two bolts attaching the latch to the hood.
And your in.
