1999 E-Brake Cable Expedition

The E-brake cable that attached the release lever in the cabin about 12in long broke on me last night. I can release the E-brake by pulling on the loose cable but it needs to be fixed. I bought some crimping nuts form the local auto store and was wondering if this will work. Is there enough slack to crimp on the new cap and then pull it to the release handle or do I need a new cable?
Can you buy cables anywhere or just the dealer.

Thanks
Jeff

You can buy the cables aftermarket. I would rather install a new cable instead of trying to repair.

Any idea where I can find this cable. All the ones I have found are the under side brake cables.
Anyone know of a part number?

Click here. (http://www.car-stuff.com/store/?Ntt=expedition+front+parking+brake+cable&N=4294965388&Nty=1) Look at the first cable. It is the front one.
