I've got a 99 Beetle, 5 speed. The emergency brake handle feels like it releases but it doesn't. The button on the handle works. Has anyone had a similar problem? Thanks

If you drive thru or live where there is snow/ice the handbrake cable can freeze solid and/or rust preventing the handbrake from releasing. None in sunny Queensland:biggrin:

Are you saying the handle goes down but the e-brake feels like it is still on, or that you push the button but the handle won't move? Sometimes the outer portion of the handle may slide up covering part of the button. So when you are pushing in the button it isn't going all the way in, it is stopped by the handle from going in far enough to allow the release. Grab the outer handle and try to slide it down to where it is suppose to be.
