02 Replaced Intake Gasket, now leaking/burning oil

I had the typical Malibu issue of a leaking intake manifold gasket. I took it to a shop and had it replaced. After I got the car back, I noticed and smelled smoke coming from under the hood and inside the cabin.

When I pop the hood, the smoke is primarily coming from the back side of the engine between the top and firewall. I put cardboard under the car and can see oil leaking all over it.

Any idea where at this oil would be coming from? I had it back to the shop 3 times and they can't seem to find it.

On a side note, any one know a good mechanic in the Charlotte greater region?

I would go back and ask for my money back they caused you a major problem.
If you paid by Visa file a complaint.

in their defense, i think they're been looking for a coolant leak. they've done a pressure test on it a few times and it's passed every time. they suspected the heater core, but it's smoke and not steam coming from the vents. i also don't have the leakage inside on the floor.

this would tell me, albeit i'm no mechanic, that the smoke is coming from another source. somewhere the oil is hitting a hot spot, burning up, and wafting up in the back of the engine.

it's not like there's oil flowing out onto the cardboard, but it's enough to make me wonder.

i've had a real bad antifreeze leak with another car and the smoke was a very noticeable smell and white color.

looks like the problem is a valve cover gasket that wasn't installed correctly.

What about the seal that covers the original distibutor hole? I recently replaced my head gaskets and relaced this seal but noticed the other day that I had developed an oil leak from that region. Hope this helps.

Their is an o-ring for this item. Its a square type o-ring and is a dealer only item. Go to Chevy parts and it should be stocked.

Use red silicone and it will never leak again.
