oops sorry, thought that it wasnt that important on this issue due to all cars having a compressor. it 1997 lesabre 130,000. thanks joe

check the pressures first then remove the belt and check the pulley bearing...it is possible and common of a problem..check belt and idler...

I have seen low refrigerent, low oil, belts, pulleys,and bearings cause nosies..

growling noise is usually the compressor pulley bearing..
