heat coming out of defrost vents

Hiyas :0 i have a 1988 s-10 blazer and no mater what setting i have it on my heat only comes threw the defrost vents. im pretty sure its a vacuum related problem but could use some help tracking down where to check

A good place to start is the vacuum ball underhood sometime burried in right front fender under stuff.
Check for good engine vacuum from engine to and threw it towards firewall and on to the heater controls.
The plastic lines and rubber coupers on the lines break and come apart.
A vacuum gauge will aid in checking for good vacuum.
