Howdy all. MY 1st post is a concern I have with my 2002 s10 (4.3L).
As the title implies, the brake/ blinker light stays on after I shutdown, which WAS causing the battery to go dead inexplicably. I've since removed the bulbs, until I can figure out wth the problem is.
Is it:

A: the ECM

B: the brake light sitch

C: component to be named later

D: a short SOMEWHERE in the frame:crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

Any help is GREATLY appreciated
Thanks:grinyes:

Turn signal and brake and 4 way all run threw the turn signal and 4W switch.

First make sure you 4 way button is not on or stuck and working right.

Push it up and down a few times.

Is it the front and rear blinker or just rear blinker/brake lights on?

Does and dash indicators light stay on or blink when you use turn signals?

Can you kill the lights by pulling your flashers?

Can you be more specific? Just the brake lights and or also the third brake light? Is it the hazzards, or just a single signal, left or right is on? The multifunction switchs were a common problem and caused issues with the brake lights and signals. There was either a TSB or recall on the multifunction switch issue.

I think it's the 4way switch underneath the dash. It doesn't happen all the time, so I just picked up a replacement, along with a Haynes manual, and left them in the truck. It happened a couple of times when I was out Sat. shopping, and I was taking the bulbs out of the tailights when they were stuck on.:crying: And yes, they are only the tailights.
I was initially worried that I was looking at a short in the sys., but I'll have to wait see?
