Couldnt find where to start a new thread... but its along the lines of what you guys are talking about. 97 blazer, all fixed up just need to do the base timing thing, wheres my bypass... is it the plug on the dist. itself, then what do i do to adjust the timing. Yes i have a timing light.

This thread shows how to align the rotor: http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=51302
You won't need the timing light.

Thanks old master. I have it running and all is good, i just read alot about adjusting the "base timing" with the est plug undone. But if theres nothing i can do because they kinda adjust themselves then i guess im good. Thanx for the input

The timing is not adjustable.
But after you have it started and running you need to get it on a good engine capable scanner and set the camshaft retard setting by turning the dist to as close to 0 degrees - or + as you can get it.
Good Luck
