Did you try replacing the battery in the remote?

Often the owner's manual will describe the process for programming spare remotes. The steps for various years have also been posted on this forum before, so try searching the forum using the "Search this forum" link from the Taurus forum main page.

Look on ebay for a keyless remote for your model. Lot's of people sell them and you can usually get them for under $50. They come with directions for programming. The programming usually consists of pushing the door open indicator button or lock button a few times with the key in the aux position. It varies with the car, but it's usually simple to do.
