OK, well I have a 94 SL2 and it has a high idle, and on warm restart, it surges alot. It has just under 180K on it now. It has had this before, and I cleaned the Tbody, and IAC, and it came back shortly after. Any thing common to look at???

Also the MPG has been getting worse.

Excellent video's RC1488, could not be any plainer for any inexperienced DIYer. Does the cardboard tube come with a new thermostat, if not where can you get one?

****UPDATE*****

Did the Tstat yesterday. The rubber seal as ripped on it, so it was leaking past. She's reading just a tick below 1/2 on the guage now!!!

Also, making some strange smeels now!!!! Guess it has a lot of crud to burn off now that its running at the right temp!!! :D :D

Well after putting 150 miles on the car sence the repair, all I can say is WOW! Run's like new, and wile I have not checked my millage, I am only at half a tank after 150 miles. That should put me in the 30mpg range!!!!

Next up is the O2 sensor [wire is all rotting away, and missing most of the covering!] and the fuel filter. [never been changed!!!! :D]

I would not suggest the Bosch universal sensor from AA/AZ. It has had issues with the PCM. I usually get one from a low mileaged junkyard saturn. A little PB Blaster and the O2 Sensor removal tool from AA/AZ and tada :)

Cool. Thanks for the tip. I normaly get parts from the dealer [I work in the biz and get a discount] so I will probably go that route.

Well last two tanks have me just a tick under 31mpg!!!!!!!!!!! And this is winter, with some warm up time, and snow driving!!!!! My goal is 34mpg!!

Still have to replace the fuel filter also, and do a tranny fluid change.

Exact problem I had with mine- high idle, temp guage didn't go over 1/4. Changed the ects and added a new thermostat and back to good as new! what a great forum!
