1999 monte carlo starter

is the solenoid on the fender wall or on the starter--it appears that not starting is a big problem with this car--i have two a 95 and 99--just going through the motions:crying: :banghead:

Welcome to AF, on the starter, remember a 'flukey" VATS can cause a no crank condition, does the security lite stay on?

THE SECURITY LIGHT GOES OUT AFTER ABOUT 5-7 SECONDS...I HAVE READ HERE ABOUT SPRAYING WD-40 INTO KEYHOLE TO LOOSEN UP DIRT...I HAVE READ HERE ABOUT TURNING KEY TO RUN FOR 10-15 MINUTES TO ALLOW THE CAR TO REREAD THE VATS SYSTEM AND RESET ITSELF???...I HAVE READ HERE ABOUT THE NEUTRAL SWITCH BEING BAD...THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL LOOKS LIKE 1995-1999...MOST OF THE WORK SEEMS TO BE WITH THE PASSKEY SYSTEM...DOES THIS SOUND VIABLE???...:screwy:

with no start what is going on? do you have a voltmeter...when you engage the starter what happens ? lights? noises? etc...

most starting problems are battery/connection problems...the low voltage causes the computer to not work properly..

I HAVE NOT CHECKED THE BATTERY YET--I ACTUALLY HAVE TWO NOSTARTS--A 1995 AND A 1999--I WILL DOTHAT NOW--UNUSUAL THAT TWO WOULD BE BAD--BOTH HAD A PAST OF NOSTARTS--CLEAN OFF KEY WORKED AND ALSO LETTING SIT DID--1995 SPINS OVER WHEN SCREWDRIVER TRICK IS USED ON STARTER--NOT SAFE!!!!!!!!!!!!--HOWEVER WHILE DOING SO IN DAYLIGHT I COULD SEE SPARKS RUNNING UP AND DOWN WIRES--REPLACED ALL WIRES AND PLUGS--WILL NOT START--REPLACED FUEL PUMP FUSE--NO START--SECURITY LIGHT ON THE 1995 FLASHES--1999 GOES OUT AFTER 5-7 SECONDS--I SEE IT IS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THE VATS SYSTEM ON THESE MODELS--THANKS FOR THE HELP:banghead: :confused:

if you can get it to crank by bypassing the key this in most cases is the vats...

to jump the starter use wire not a screw driver,
