Door panel leaking - solution

Just thought I'd share this on my 01 Lesabre:

I had the often mentioned problem of water leaking under the front door panel, pooling up on the weatherstripping and then running over the sill and onto the carpet, after my rug got soaked I came up with a solution that seems to have worked so far.

I drilled a small hole in the middle "U" part of the weatherstripping, and inserted a small metal tube thru the hole, making sure the top of the tube is even with the top of the w/s. The water now drains thru the hole and under the door where it should go. Make sure the tube goes all the way thru and pokes out under the w/s., and also be careful when drilling not to scratch the paint under the w/s, I did that the first time and had to touch it up slightly. The small tubes were found in the Help! section at Pep Boys, comes in a small package with several sizes and lengths. The ones I used are about an inch in length.

I did several of these along the w/s and so far it acts like a drain, draining the water away from the sill and under the door where it's supposed to go.
