i have a 1991 saturn that will not start when it is hot. it starts just fine when the engine is cold. also after the car has been shut off, it is leaking antifreeze. i cant see where the coolant is coming from exactly but it is in the area of the overflow tube by the tank. replaced fuel filter and no difference. i also tried bleeding the fuel line below the carbeurator and the car did start but this only worked once. i am totally stumped, i have been told that it could be the pump or a temp sensor but why is it leaking coolant? anyone have any ideas?

i would also say pump but your leak i would clean it all up and then start car see where antifreeze is coming from. i use either oven cleaner and then wash it off or use brake clean to get it clean. are you sure it's not coming from over flow jug? it may have a crack in it. have you ever over heated that car before?

I wouldm go to autozone, checker auto part, etc and rent a coolant pressure tester, they will charge you a deposit but will refund the deposit when tool is returned. Make sure coolant system is to proper level, apply 15 PSI and look for coolant leak.

When the vehicle doesn't start warm do you have spark? Could be coil or crankshaft position sensor. Does it stall when engine gets warm? Is check engine lite on?

Go to this link for service manual:

http://www.bedlib.org/ebsco.html

click on ARRC
enter library for userid and password
click on auto repair reference center
choose year, make and model

look under repiar procedures and click on driveability and emision controls, then electronic engine controls and choose crankshaft position sensor for testing procedure and click on compotent locations for location of crankshaft sensor.

Hope this helps

Change out your Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor. Your car has two, replace the one with the two wire connector. A cracked sensor can lead to a rich mixture. To rich and your car doesnt start.

During a no start situation check for spark between the coil tower. NO spark = BAD CPS. Replace it.

Also, the indication of bad ignition coils are no start situations when the engine is warm. Might want to grab another set from a junkyard. '91-'94 will fit.

Fuel pump should turn on for 2 seconds when the key is in the RUN position before cranking. Its a humm. This indicates the pump is working.

Fuel pressure with the key in RUN at the rail should be 38-40psi

Your coolant is prolly leaking from your water pump. If its never been replaced before, then the stock one surely is on its way out.

Also there is no carburetor. These are multi fuel injection engines. You are talking about the throttle body
