G20 heater hose 1989 G20 van

I don't have heat my 1989 G20 van. I was told by my mechanic that the heater valve was removed from the van and that the hoses were reconnected to each other so that it loops back in the system. I have gotten myself a new heater valve, but there are 4 hose connectors, 3 on one side, 1 on the other.

I don't know which hose goes to which connector. I have a Haynes manual, but it doesn't show the hose connections in the manual. Does anyone have a diagram? Or know exactly which hose from where connects to which hose connection on the heater valve?

Thanks,
George

Welcome to AF.

I am not sure, but the heater valve may be related to passenger vans which have a rear heater unit.

If you have a cargo-type van with no rear heater, then I do not think the valve unit is necessary.

All 3 of my G20 vans simply had the 2 heater hoses going directly to the heater core with no valve at all. One was the feed and one was the return line.

BTW likely the heater core was bypassed for a reason, either it leaks (in which case you would need to replace it) or the blender door does not full shut off the heat in the summer.
