Block heater recommendation?

Any here use a block heater that they are fond of?

The freeze plug replacements seem risky. I've seen some threaded ones but not sure where they thread into. Inline seems like you'd need more space than what I have.

I was thinking remote start but the block heaters have many advantages in my opinion. Easier start, less cold start engine wear, saves gas, quicker cabin heat, cheaper. Maybe both....:)

Where abouts are you located? Unless in extreme northern areas you shouldn't need a block heater. Most of the better remote start systems are usually a cheaper thing to get. I love them then again, I sell/install them. :)

I agree. Few people NEED a block heater these days but they are nice to have.

IMO there is nothing wrong with the freeze plug type when properly installed.
Most freeze plugs have a friction fit in their holes, just like a block heater. Therefore, there really is not functional or reliability difference between the two.
