'93 chevy s-10 truck 4.3L 2wd ... Gets plenty of gas and will sit and idle perfect but when you put it in gear and try to go it boggs down and doesn't want to go. It acts like it's not geting enough gas or something but it's getting plenty. I did the trick with a wire to get the ecm code it just read 38 and in the book it says internal Transmission problem. What would it be that would be causing this and how can I fix it. :frown:

It started when I changed the spark plug wires and I have changed the spark plugs, Distributor cap, rotary button. Any other suggestions please let me know. I'm not sure what else to do and money at this time is kinda limited so any information will be greatly appreciated.

Make sure a plug wire is not crossed.
Have you got good hot blue spark to all plugs?
Did you check base timing?

Code 38 - Brake Switch Stuck "OFF"

With brake off, vehicle speed is >20 mph for six seconds, then vehicle speed is 5-20 mph for six seconds. Must happen seven times to set code.

Once code set, it will inhibit TCC (torque convertor clutch) engagment, and no forth gear in hot mode.

Did you disturb any wiring when you were doing your tune-up? Take a look at the brake switch and see if something is loose, other than that, maybe reset your PCM and see if it clears up.
