Anyone else had the bolt head break off the exhaust manifold, 6.0 liter? Apparently GM knew about this back in 04, and changed to a bigger bolt head. In typical GM fashion, they dont want to know anything, and screw those who bought the defective part they know about! With a truck that has 42,000 miles and been taking care of, Ive had a water leak in the cab, 6 times to dealer when brand new, bad fan clutch when brand new, 3 steering columns, 2 bad front wheel hubs, 4 brake jobs, and now 3 broken bolts on the exhaust manifold. I have 2 case numbers with GM over past month, and they dont want to know a thing. Ask me if I feel bad for GM! They dont stand behind their junk, and Ive owned 5 GM products. There wont be a sixth!!

yes these bolts are fragile and they also rust off ...it can be an easy fix....depends on how this is approached....

Just got truck back from dealer, 4 days later, GM was supposed to contact them about the manifold problem, and never did. Dealer said truck needs 2 new exhaust manifolds, oil tube is cracked and corroded, and they have never seen a truck this bad. Everything from brake lines, to fuel lines are all corroded. Said minimum of $1200, but most likely higher to fix. He then asked if I parked it in salt water. Still waiting to hear back from GM..........

I live in Southern Connecticut, but have second home in Vermont. A lot of exposure to the liquid salt they use on the roads, in both states now. But I have been very good at hosing her down frequently during the winter.

That makes sense living in conn. near the ocean and traveling to vermont ...the vehicle is gonna get blasted badly..

I have used rubber roofing to extend the inner fender wall down 2-3inches. this mod has stopped most of the salt thrown up at the brake lines and on the transfercase /trans area..
