Yes I have a 2002 chevy express van. 5.7 engine/ air. The problem is that when the ignition is off the heater fan stays on and everyting is in the off position. My wife noticed the fan come on by itself one morning when she was going to work. I went out and messed w/ the fan switch and it finally went off. The next morning my battery was dead. So I presume it came back on and kept running until the battery was dead. I heard that it could be a blower control module or a heater resistor ? please advise someone I am out of work and can't afford dealer costs. Thanks Jack

Could you determine what speed the fan was running at? (low, medium, high etc) If it was on "hi" speed, the blower motor relay is most likely the cause. When the speed switch is in the "Hi" position, the relay sends battery voltage directly to the blower motor. The circuit it uses to do that is hot at all times, (key on or off) and the contacts in the relay may have stuck. On your vehicle, the blower resistor and the relay are serviced a module, (one part). http://www.autozone.com/R,1263902/vehicleId,2716303/initialAction,partProductDetail/store,2117/partType,01160/shopping/partProductDetail.htm

The company who made it said standard. Made in some 3rd world country I think. I got 6 years out of that Battery so I went to walmart and bought there best one. $ 72.00 and change. So far so good. I had cut the plastic where the resistor mounted to make this one work. They give you a template and I just cut it out w/ a razor knife. The one I took out the plastic covering was just about all gone. ( GREEN COVERING ) there was like two metal pieces on one side and one on the other exposed to the weather. I was wondering if that was the problem. Anyway thanks alot you saved me some big $$$$$ on labor ! Jack T.
