GL thanx for the info. ill try those sites. FortyTwo 07-15-2003, 12:31 AM The prodrive short shifter is incredible, you just have to flick your wrist to shift. Its a little pricey, but replaces much more than just the "stick." psi-izzed247 07-23-2003, 03:22 PM Im running the ILP short shifter from ILP performance.com No problems here/works perfect. MidNiteMysT 07-23-2003, 03:29 PM u guys got any links to the prodrive or the ILP short shifter? psi-izzed247 07-23-2003, 04:28 PM ILP is www.ilpperformance.com but site is not working for some reason. Contact SPI motorsports here (http://www.spimotorsports.com/index.htm) They sell prodrive parts. ask for ryan Subie Gal 07-24-2003, 11:37 AM STi short shifter.... full linkage, bushings - great throw! solid unit... and discounted :D http://secure.cartsvr.net/catalogs/catalog.asp?prodid=1483532&description=short&catid=13029 Jamie www.subiegalracing.com _____________________________________ http://www.subiegal.com/SGRacing/Team%20Schedule/subiegalwave.gif F23A4Racer750IL 07-28-2003, 09:39 AM since u guys pretty much named all of em i herd the RS-R short shifter aint bad. and maybe B&M makes a short shifter aswell. LadyLuke 08-04-2003, 01:31 AM Fuck the short throw. Just end up fuckin up your clutch faster and ever worse damaging the shifter and linkage. With short shifters you thorw to hard slamming them and your internals around. They are no good. Plus they add weight....:screwy: MidNiteMysT 08-04-2003, 12:20 PM i got a short shifter on my prelude and i couldnt do without it. RockinWRX 08-04-2003, 01:53 PM I love the STi short shifter that came installed in the wagon we bought. Super-light , solid lightning quick throws , No rattling or buzzing at all. The kartboy shifter is also a good choice... From what I've heard Subiegal gives great service:wink: MDLarson 08-23-2003, 11:56 PM What exactly does a "Short throw shifer" do for me anway? I've seen that feature in a few Carsoup.com WRX ads, and have been wondering. (Obviously I'm a little new to the car mod. scene) MidNiteMysT 08-24-2003, 01:39 AM What exactly does a "Short throw shifer" do for me anway? I've seen that feature in a few Carsoup.com WRX ads, and have been wondering. (Obviously I'm a little new to the car mod. scene) well, if u have a stick shift. you know the throw from the base point (neutral) to the gear u want (first, second, etc.), it will shorten the throw from nuetral to first, second, or w/e gear your putting it into so you get quicker shifts leading to less time switching gears and more time accelerating. and it just feels so much better. long shifts are gay. MDLarson 08-24-2003, 09:50 AM Ahh. Thanks for the info. Makes sense... short-throw = less shifting movement. I think I'll get a short-throw shifter when the time comes! :) MidNiteMysT 08-24-2003, 03:35 PM Ahh. Thanks for the info. Makes sense... short-throw = less shifting movement. I think I'll get a short-throw shifter when the time comes! :) i dont even think u should wait to get a short shifter because to me, it made a huge difference in everday driving aswell as racing. afterall, u use your shifter the most out of anything. when i get a new car, its gonna be one of my first mods. MDLarson 08-25-2003, 09:14 AM i dont even think u should wait to get a short shifter...Well, I still have to wait some... I have to get the WRX first! :) That's what I meant by "when the time comes." FortyTwo 09-04-2003, 03:23 PM Prodrive... there are NONE better!! Import_fantasy 09-24-2003, 04:10 PM AVO turbo world short shifter kit is the way to go!http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/2cents.gif LjasonL 09-24-2003, 06:04 PM You know the manufacturer could easily put a shorter length shifter from the factory, but they don't. A longer shift lever means you exert more torque on the base of the lever. A short throw might be shorter, but that doesn't necessarily make it quicker, because it's now harder to put into gear. So be careful not to get too short of a shifter. The Impreza can be a bitch to get into gear with the regular length shifter, I dread to think what it would be like if it were, say, an inch and a half shorter. The STi short shifter is pricey, but is way more than just the shift lever and bushing alone like most short shifters. If you have the money, I would say that's the way to go. On a budget, Kartboy is tough to beat. supafast 04-10-2004, 02:36 AM Does anyone know if the cobb tuning short throw is any good? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
