Fuel Pump

I have a bad fuel level sensor. I found the access panel in the trunk and removed it. Now, how does one get the plate that holds the pump on, off. It appears to require a special spanner wrench. Where can I buy it? Dealer? It tried to turn it with a chisel and hammer, but no luck.

Also, has anyone had luck using the GM Fuel System Treatment for fixing the this sulfur problem I have been reading about.

Thanks,

Well it’s good to know you are still alive to ask for advice! Using a “chisel & hammer” on the ring is not recommend and a good way to create a spark which could ignite the fumes from the tank. They do make a spanner wrench for this purpose: however, normally if you soak the ring with PB-Blaster for about an hour and then use a 3/8 in BRASS drift pin to knock the ring loose, it will come off. :grinyes:

Thanks,

Knowing that it can be turned with a with a drift (brass) on one prong of the coller is good to know.
