I have looked all over and can't figure out how to add or even change my transmission fluid. Where is it?

You add fluid through the dipstick tube and remove the pan to change it. BTW, be sure to install a new filter while the pan is off!

There is no dipstick tube or dipstick. There is a procedure to do and you remove a plug by the right side axle hear the transmission with a 7/16" or 11mm wrench or socket. It is full when fluid comes out. Most of the newer transmissions are this way,no dipstick tube and dipstick at all.

Make sure the engine is running before removing the check level plug.

If the engine is off 3-4 quarts of fluid will be lost. Of course this might be of benefit for those wanting to do a simple drain and add. :grinyes:

OK I remember having this problem myself, but one day when i was actually just trying the change my head gasket I saw the red round cap for the transmission fluid...............It under the either the battery post or the air fitter, it takes 1 min. to remove those items.

Its not as bad as it sounds. However it is important to have the car level (so much for jacking up the front end only) and as mentioned before, running. There is a particular temp range they want you to check them at also. If the vehicle is cold let it idle for 5 to 10 minutes and it should be fine. If its hot there will be more than enough cool down time while your playing with jacks/jackstands/ramps and the seven or eight trips to the tool box.
