99 Crown Vic - Replacing Light for Gear Selector

1999 Crown Vic w/ digital speedo/instrument cluster: Removed the covers/trim-plates on dash to replace two blown dashboard-light bulbs-- #1: for one of the two rocker-switches for the Info Ctr; #2: for the backlight bulb behind the "Transmission Range Indicator" (Gear Indicator).

I've replaced backlight bulbs in the dash, a time or two before and they're all set-up pretty much the same HOWEVER, after easily & successfully replacing the Message Center bulb, I found that I couldn't get to the other one-- even after removing the entire speedometer assembly-- and decided to consult AllData. AD's info stated "The only illumination bulb used, which cannot be replaced, is for backlighting the transmission range indicator". So, HERE's the point where a quitter/wealthy man would say "oh well-- can't be replaced... I'd better take it to the dealer!..." I, on the other hand, am neither a quitter... nor am I wealthy (dealer svc = $50+[?])-- Additionally, I find it hard to believe that FMC would've designed this indicator w/ a "permanent"/blowable incandescent bulb that [I]"...cannot..." be replaced so, I ask: does anyone know how the heck [I]I can change this bulb?

Thanks!
Lou
