Just to back up a bit, we installed a good low-miled 3 liter motor first, but we knew there was a tranny problem also. When the vehicle was cold, the tranny ran w/o fail, after the vehicle warmed up, it would shudder like there was a torque convertor issue between 3rd gear and overdrive AND as it came to a stop, as it was shifting down into first, it would bang into gear. Sometimes it would just bang in and out (torque convertor?) of gear when you would be going at low speeds, you could feel it shudder in and out.

Brought it to a local tranny shop and they rebuilt it completely...they said. The guy said that the O-rings and seals were bad and it was allowing fluid to disperse thru the valve body because after the fluid got up to temperature and thinned out, it was getting past those seals and O-rings. And.....it included new torque convertor.
Got it back and the problem was better, but it was still there. I noticed on the sheet he added 12 quarts ATF and charged us $19.00 for Lubeguard.

I brought it back to him and he had it for another 3 days and called me back and said "it's better, but it's the best he can do!"

After reading thru several threads here, I'm not noticing anything similar for this transmission.....mostly threads about "going into limp mode" or losing there driveability completely.

One thing I did notice is that my friend and I got shocked by leaning over onto the plenum a couple different times standing on wet ground in the garage. Would this have anything to do with this tranny problem?

I'd like to bring it back to the tranny guy, but I'm not exactly sure if it doesn't have to do with anything electrical or ground issues?!

I had a 96 a few years back that done about the same thing. I removed the insulation weather cover thats over the solenoid pack and the problem went away. Most of your weather covers get saturated with oil and cause the solinoid packs to overheat. I even made a trip from TN to Omaha, NE and never had any problems.

You'll read it a thousand times on this and other forums. Use ATF-4 fluid and only ATF-4 fluid.
