2002 LeSabre directional issue....

I have a 2002 LeSabre that started having a directional problem. The right directional indicator light on the dash was staying on but very dim. Then it started to flash quickly whenever I would turn the directional on and the indicator light would stay on brightly. All my directional lights would work and the running lights were on when the car was running. Several Monday-morning-mechanics were trying to tell me it was the flasher switch/module. This is not cheap and most wouldn't know where to find this under the dash.
Here's how I determined which light is was. With the car and ignition off, turn on your running lights. The directional in question shouldn't turn on at all. I'm not sure why the light comes on when the car is running but none the less, this was very confusing in trying to find the right bulb. To access the bulbs for th rear, you need a 10mm deep length socket and you need to remove the plastic clips for the net/cargo holder. Once you remove the 4 nuts, the light assembly will come out. Twist the socket and remove/replace the bulbs. For the front directional, you have to use a 10mm socket and remove the 2 bolts on the top of the headlight assembly. The entire headlight assembly will slide out toward the outside of the vehicle. You will need to pull on the assembly to get the rear release to pop out. Once removed, then you can reach down to access the turn signal. Twist and pull the socket assembly and you should have enough wire to reach and check bulb before reassembling everything.
I hope this helps and saves someone the 2 hour headbangging that I went through. :licka:
