2000 Lesabre Trunk leak on right side of trunk

Car has 22000 miles probably leaked from factory it was never driven in the rain. I took it to the dealer body shop for a quick tighten trunk lid did not help. I know I will have to water test etc. just wondering if anyone ever had this problem before. Thanks

If your Lesabre has a sunroof, the drain lines are run through the trunk.
Clear the drain lines and your problems will be solved.

The only way to properly diagnosis this is to get in the trunk with a flashlite and have someone wash the car down and look for source.

Thanks for the tip does not have sunroof but interesting about the drains go through the trunk.

I know I need to get in the trunk but I hoped another Lesabre had the same problem before. Thanks for responding.

Had a simular problem with the trunk carpet getting wet in my 2001 Lesabre. It took a while but I finally figured it out. I dried the carpet out by removing it and put news papers in its place. I hosed the trunk lid down with a garden hose and it stayed dry which eliminated the seal. One day I drove the car to work after a overnight rain which left the roads wet. When I got to work, I checked the trunk and it was wet inside, so I figured the wheel well spray was getting inside somehow. Later I removed the the rear wheel well plastic lining, put a light in the wheel well opening and looking inside the trunk, I could see light shining through a metal seam that had opened up. I solved the problem with Home Depot caulk and it has been dry since.

My father's Lesabre had a similar problem except the water (puddling) was found on the driver's side/rear floor area. After removing the entire interior twice, the dealer was stumped:banghead:. Even spraying with a hose for what seemed like hours couldn't explain it. Only when the kid spraying the hose accidently sprayed around the wiper area did we find out how the water was entering. We found that while on the highway, rain would enter the wiper shroud area, travel upward (yes...upward) along the post, through the roof area, and down the post between the doors onto the rear floor area. After a lot of head shaking, and dumbfounded giggling, did we solved the problem:screwy:.

Not sure this is a similar cause but maybe worth considering.
