Here is a new thread on that Gas Gauge issue.

I actually never did get around to replacing it yet. but I did find an article that might help others.

The article explains that sulphur causes annoying trouble for gas gauges in GM fuel systems.

Apparently the sulphur disrupts the electrical signal from the sender unit.

To make a long story short. GM actually has a part number for a fuel system additive (put in with gas) It is called "GM Fuel System Treatment Plus - part number 88861012). (Cleans existing deposits off apparently)

If it works it is cheaper and easier than replacing the sender unit.

I read your old thread and another way of monitoring gas consumption is with a scangauge II. I have one and it gives me my average mpg and also tells me approx. how many miles and gallons of gas are left in the tank.

I Usually fill between 1/4 and 1/2 tank anyways so I don't have to worry about running out. I have heard it is not good to run your tank down to empty as the gas helps cool the fuel pump.
