I've noticed my car has a pretty rough ride going over all the crappy roads here in illinois...I'm just curious if i need new struts, or new springs, or if the car is just that old where good suspension wasn't an option?

I'll upload some pictures of the car from either side, if looking at the ride height can tell anything that is.

Well if it rides like a boat i would replace the struts.Its not the easiest job in the word on this cars.I did struts on my 93 and it road 10x better with cheap Monroe gasmatices.

I've done some suspension jobs in the past, i've just never worked with a rear spring like the one on this car. if it really makes a difference maybe i'll do it, it doesnt really float around like a boat, its just that every bump you hit...you can really feel!

I have the same impression of my 95 Cutlass Supreme 3.1. It's always rode harsh and I've had the rear struts replaced because one was leaking. Can't say that improved the harsh ride. Haven't touched the front ones.

As you can see, its pretty low....usually its a bit lower, but i'm currently low on gas....anyways..i like the low look, but you think maybe i need all new suspension, springs and struts, or just struts, or what....

Just replace all 4 struts, and it will ride better.

Johndd.Replace the fronts.They are alot easier to do.
