was just given a 1981 monte carlo but have always wanted to fix up a late 80's Luxury Sport. Does anyone know if the front ends can be swapped?

IIRC, the front ends would work up 'til 1985. The last few years, '86 to '88 were different underneath with bolt patterns, etc. You might be able to check with someone who has knowledge of these G- Body cars from the '80s at a salvage yard. A Hollander Interchange Manual may also be able to tell you.
