I am going this weekend to look at a used 1993 Toyota Pickup with 176,000 miles.

What are things to check on this model besides the normal wreck check?

I have done my research and know there is a steering recall, and so I will be checking for this.

Any advice and opinions are welcome.

I forgot to add, this is the "Pickup Dx" with automatic transmission and has the 2.4L 22R-E engine.

Depending on where you are, a big problem is frame rust. They rust from the inside out, so you can't see it until it's bad.

Check for recalls. Go online and search google for problems with those vehicles. Like for my truck I now know there was a headgasket recall and a steering recall. I also know rust was a big issue. Then I found out about the starter contacts. The easiest thing to do is to go to a search engine like google and type in the vehicle and a key word like problems. The next best thing is to search forums.
