2000 GTP Coolant Leakjackie-boy 10-23-2008, 11:11 AM I noticed a plume of steam when I came to a stop. After taking the engine cover off I realized I have a coolant leak just under the supercharger on the front side of the engine (closest to the bumper). The coolant is pooling up around the fuel injectors. I can't seem to find where the leak is coming from as it is very small. Any ideas what it could be? Thanks! BNaylor 10-23-2008, 12:22 PM Do a better visual inspection. Check the two coolant elbows and radiator hoses to include thermostat housing. Also, possible supercharger or LIM gaskets. Highbeamz 10-23-2008, 07:19 PM I had a coolant leak that pooled between my rear rocker cover and the supercharger...was a LIM gasket leak...sounds like what you may have. jackie-boy 10-27-2008, 07:24 PM I think that's what it is. I don't yet have a manual for this car. Anyone ever done this job before? Easy, hard? Thanks! tblake 10-27-2008, 07:48 PM Bob has a writeup in the tips and maintenance subforum about doing LIM gaskets on a 3800. Its not a very hard job, just take your time and make sure to use a calibrated torque wrench. BNaylor 10-28-2008, 10:25 AM Anyone ever done this job before? Easy, hard? Thanks! Yes. For a first time DIY job about a days worth of work. First step is to get the supercharger, throttle body and LIM gaskets. Other parts like the two coolant bypass elbows, fuel injector o-rings and consumables like anti-freeze. We can walk you along so feel free to ask more questions. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
