Hi. New to this forum (I spend a lot of time working on a Volkswagen forum) and hope the pros here can help. 92 Accord EX with 309k. I've been having to use the shift release button to get the car out of park because stepping on the brake pedal doesn't release the tranny. Brake switch and harness seem intact so I started checking fuses. Found the "Stop Horn" 20A fuse blown and replaced it. Car would then let me shift out of park once brake pedal was depressed :iceslolan But.....then I get curious about the "Stop Horn" location of that fuse and press my horn button. No horn:disappoin . I could hear a relay click the few times I pressed the button, then no click at all. Now the car won't shift out of park. Check the fuse and it's blown. Replace and shifts fine...but the second I try a horn button, a couple of relay clicks then the fuse blows again. Can anyone help me figure out why the horn button is blowing that fuse??

I would disconnect the horn and then try replacing the fuse. If everything works except the horn and the horn relay still clicks without blowing the horn and the fuse, I would think the problem is a bad horn. I haven't torn a Honda horn apart but if it is like most horns, the diaphram causes the contacts in the horn to open and close. If they don't open, it over-currents and blows the fuse. I haven't got the wiring diagrams at-hand but will on Friday.

Alright, sounds like a good idea. So your saying disconnect the harness from the horn, then try the horn button and the relay should click but hopefully the fuse won't blow? I hope....I can live with putting in a $10 horn from Checker Auto. Do you know where the horn is located and is it just one?? Thanks!

The book sez there are two horns and they are located in back of the front bumper. So you have to take off the front bumper to expose them. Honda sez to test the horn, disconnect the wht/yel and blu/red wires and then hook up a battery to each one separately to see if they work. My book sez there is no relay for the coupe/sedan but there is one for the wagon. I don't know if I believe the book.

OK - Thank you! I'll give that a try and will post when I have a resolution to this issue.

Disconnected horns (bumper removal not necessary-they are easily accessed by removing the front amber marker lenses) and the accessory relay clicks but the fuse would not blow. Never got to testing the horns and was just going to replace them with new ones. If that didn't work, the accessory relay was next at about $45. The car ended up selling before I got to all of this. Hope this all helps someone else in the future, and thank you for your help!
