94 grand prix se stereo problems

today i bought a 94 grand prix se (great deal) some problems, leak in the trasmission coolant tubes, brakes and lights but,,, my problem is the stereo i'm a 16 year old kid with 2 12" kicker subwoofers and my stereo isnt working,,, i cant pick up frequencies with the radio and when i put a cd in it plays very faintly even with it turned all the way up... plz help me out thx

better get that tranny cooler leak figure out. Your trans could be at risk.

Did you hardwire in the deck or did you buy an aftermarket instal kit so you could just plug into the factory harness?

Better check all your wiring connections. If your able, swap in the stock radio to see if everything works. If it does, then I would have to say its a problem with the Head Unit.

sorry i should of said this in the last post, its the original deck i think its delco or something not exactly but yea ordered new pipes for the tranny too. thx for the post

I'd be willing to bet its a problem with the internal amp in the factory radio.

If your installing subbies, your probably better off with an aftermarket deck anyways. Might want to start there. I know kenwood makes some nice ones that have red illumination buttons that match the interior.

Thanks for the help ive got a friend with an extra deck clarion i think, i'll talk to him and post what the outcome is with the new deck thx for all the help

no problem! Might be a good idea to invest in the wally-world install kit. It usually runs 15 bucks , but makes install so much easier. Plus you wouln't have to ruin your factory wires.

However if you do decide to cut and splice the factory wires, you can go here to make sure that your hooking everything up correctly

Thx a bunch,,, lol i got a wiring kit at about 1 am this morning cause me and a friend were bored but yea i'll definetly post a couple pics of the system thanks again for all the help
