92 Cutlass Ciera wiring harness?rjstang422 10-10-2008, 09:14 PM Does anyone know any other Oldsmobile models would have a wiring harness that would be compatible with my 92 Cutlass Ciera. It has the 3.3L v6. I need one and I cannot find one anywhere. Or does anyone here have one that I can buy from them? maxwedge 10-11-2008, 04:48 PM Welcome to AF, underhood harness? If so there should be plenty of those cars in the bone yards, but hurry up as the price of scrap metal has caused many vehicles to be crushed. Try a national salvage yard search for the part. BTW what is wrong with the old one? rjstang422 10-14-2008, 12:43 PM All the wires have gone bad and the car keeps stalling. The mechanic has replaced about 5 wires already but they just keep going bad one after the other. maxwedge 10-14-2008, 03:32 PM Due respect that analysis makes no sense, exactly what wires go bad and how? rjstang422 10-14-2008, 09:38 PM Ok so the engine wiring harness has a lot of wires which go from the cars ecu to all the various components of the engine. Am I right? Certain sections of these wires had holes in them and either corroded or dried out. The mechanic cut out thes e bad sections of the wiring and spliced in new wiring. The problem is that it is continuing to happen. Which is why I am in search of a wiring harness which does not have this problem. Or I could be totally wrong and the mechanic is lying to me. He did tell me initially that my ingnition module and coil pack were fried. The car continued to stall anyway. He did show me sections of wires that he cut out. Certain points of the wire were discolored which he said meant that the wiring was dried out. Currently the car can crank but will not turn over. This is what happened the 3 other times until I had these sections of wiring replaced. maxwedge 10-15-2008, 07:28 AM I never heard of anything like dried out wires as stated, they may have bad or corroded connections, but dried out? They are made of copper. No spark, no fuel pump running, what is actually happening. rjstang422 10-15-2008, 11:15 AM There is no spark. I have also had the crank sensor replaced. ruzzi21 10-15-2008, 12:48 PM There is no spark. I have also had the crank sensor replaced. What codes are comming up? Is the car starting now? Before you mentioned that it was stalling. How long would it run before stalling and what happened. You might have bad wires but it doesn't sound like that is the issue. maxwedge 10-15-2008, 03:37 PM If there is 12v on the pink wire to the icm and there are no cranking rpms seen on the scanner then either the crank sensor is bad, the wires to icm from the crank sensor, icm or very rare but the pcm could cause this, this is not hard to pin down, these are routine diagnostic issues for that generation car. rjstang422 10-16-2008, 01:18 AM What codes are comming up? The car is completely dead now as of now. When I pulled the codes I got code 26, "Quad-driver module or Quad-driver No. 1 error". When I had wires replaced the car would run for weeks. Then out of no where it would stall again with no warning signs. It may come on for another couple of minutes but would then just cut off again. Usually when it starts showing the symptoms again it will only last for about 10 minutes before it cuts off, it seems like when the engine reaches its normal running temperature. Does this car have the big connector going through the firewall like my 91 had? I had similar problems that were due to poor connections there. Try loosening the bolt and wiggling the connector while the car is running or while trying to start the car. Mine died when wiggling and I inspected the connections and found the bad pins. I finally bypassed the connector with wiring . That fixed my intermittent open circuit. rjstang422 10-16-2008, 12:23 PM Does this car have the big connector going through the firewall like my 91 had? Yes it is on the passenger side of the engine bay. I will check that out thanks. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
