I'm sure there has been hundreds of posts in regards to this issue...

I own a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE and it's been nothing but trouble. The security system is constantly messing up. I've replaced virtually every aspect of the system, the last part being the BCM. I've took weight off my keychain, I've gotten new keys made, replaced cyclinders, well basically i've replaced EVERYTHING except BCM.
Basically what happens is every 3-4 monthes or so my Security light decides to come on (At this moment my palm usually fuses with my forehead) It's basically telling me that "Hey, within a month or two I'm randomly not going to start"
So everytime I've brought it in and they've determined its one of the above things... anyways, the last time I brought it in after the light came on I was told nothing was wrong. So I had an argument with the mechanic because I know somethings wrong and it's going to crap out on me out of the blue... Considering my knowledge of vehicles is next to nothing, I didn't really win.
So I guess my question is should I even bother with the BCM or is the dealership trying to just milk more money out of me? I've pumped well over $1200 dollars into this issue and it's getting quite ridiculous. I've noticed that there is some do-it-yourself toggleswitch where you disable the passlock system but I haven't seen too much feedback on it...
Any advice or hints?

By the way... I've contacted Pontiac in regards to this issue and they basically told me "Tough luck" and that they have no past knowledge of an issue like this.. (Even though there are hundreds of posts online about people with this issue)

EDIT
Oh and also, the last time it happened it was awkward. After my security light went off, about a week later I went to start my car. Then the highbeam light (on the panel) flickered for about 6 seconds and I heard clicking (which sounded like hazards) underneath the dash. Then it stopped and my Service engine light came on.

Welcome to AF.

If your BCM is bad(and that is a posibility) then I would replace it.
But if the stealership cant say "for sure" this is whats causing the security issue(s) then I wouldnt replace it just yet.

So let me ask you a few questions...
Do you have a after market alarm system ?
Or an after market stereo ?
Does or have you tried the security relearn to get it started ?

Here is the relearn procedure if you dont have it.
Security relearn procedure:

1) Attempt to start the car by turning the key to the Start/Run Position.
2) Observe that the vehicle fails to start and that the security light is illuminated.
3) Release key to the 'ON/Accessory' Position. (DO NOT turn key to the 'off' position.)
4) Allow the vehicle to sit with the key in the 'ON/Accessory' Position for no less than 11 minutes.
5) Turn key to off position and allow the vehicle to remain in the 'OFF' position for no less than 30 seconds.
6) Repeat #1 - #5 for 3 cycles.
7) On 4th attempt, car should start.

NOTE : Since this is a fairly long procedure, I would limit all electrical sources, such as disconnecting headlights, to prevent discharge of battery.

NOTE 2 : It is SAFE to wait LONGER than the allotted time, but it is not safe to wait less time. I.e. 12 minutes instead of 11 minutes should be safe; however, waiting 10 minutes instead of 11 minutes is not safe.

Properly executed, this procedure should take approximately 35 minutes to complete

Doing this correctly sometimes solves this issue sometimes it doesnt.

Also I wouldnt attempt the by pass you have read about unless you are good with hacking wires and soldering.

Good Luck
