Hello,

I have a 95 park ave and it is having some issues. It all started about 2 months ago when the passanger side air bag went off for no reason while the car was in park at my house. Now the next thing was the auto trunk close it will work sometimes and then others it will just stay up, so I disconnected it and used the motor to lower the lever manualy. After that the climate control started to blink and display funny then turn on and off and now it will not light up or work and the car just blows air now, sometimes cold and others warm. And the most recent thing I have noticed is that the speedo will just stop working in the middle of driving and set at like 10mph or 20mph and then randomly kick back on.

Those are the current problems, I did dissconnect the airbag system due to I was afriad that the drivers side airbag would go off like the pass did. I removed that fuse aswell. Any help would be greatly apprciated.

Thanks, and I am glad there is a community around like this.

Welcome to AF! Sorry, but these strange sort of electrical problems are usually very difficult to cyber diagnose. Obviously, you have some major problems and an on-site diagnosis may be required. Do you have a reputable automotive electrical shop in your area?

I have never heard of an air bag deployment without some sort of impact, or some serious electrical problems. Has the car ever been in an accident? If so, it may be when the air bag(s) were replaced, the terminals, or wiring were not properly connected. Have you checked all the fuses and checked the battery terminals & wiring for corrosion; this is a common problem with the side post mounts. The trunk malfunction could be a problem somewhere within the switch mechanism. You will need a wiring diagram to diagnose this! Finally, the speedometer fluctuations may be related to the same poor connections at the battery, the VSS, wiring to the PCM, or the PCM itself; again, it is hard to say without an on-site inspection!

Thanks for the reply.

Yea there are a few places around here and I can go to the dealer that sold the car to my grandparents in 94'. The car was never in an accident and when I called a dealer and told them what had went on with the air bag they said they have never heard of such a thing. It seems that all the other things have been activated by the airbag going off. But there is an issue with the batter being in the over voltage position for most of the time when I drive. Well Looks like I will be getting on the phone with someone and seeing whats causing this big mess up.

Thanks again.

But there is an issue with the batter being in the over voltage position for most of the time when I drive.Have the alternator tested off the car. Advanced can do this for you @ no cost. If it checks ok, you may have a problem with the PCM, fairly common issue with the 94-95 PCM.

We have heard of a few of the C and H bodies do this with the sir bags...

For a while in the C and H bodies the air bag module was on the floor pan under the passenger seat... If you had any water leaks this could sink the SIR Module under that seat.. It was usually caused by corrosion of sorts..

iirc after a Certain year GM quit putting the module on the floor pan.. But again we have seen this happen several times over the years... Keep in mind that thats a few of the Multitude of C and H bodies they made..

Do you live or work at a place near LDX power transmission lines or a substation?
