Hello all. I have a 2001 300M with a little over 148K. The car runs good, and strong. However, sometimes when i first start the engine in the mornings, it have a clicking sound coming from the engine. The sound continues for a few minutes, then goes away. Secondly, sometimes under mid to intense acceleration, there is a loud clicking sound coming from the engine. Any ideas on what it could be. I bought it at 94,500 miles, and haven't needed very much work done, other than brakes and tires.

Thank you in advance for your input.

It may be tappets, it may be low oil. Use a good grade of motor oil such as Mobil one and a quality filter as well (not fram) and change your own oil.

The most important thing I can tell you is that you need to change your timing belt and water pump NOW!!! These are to be changed out at 100k so you are living on borrowed time. Really, really important. If your belt lets go your engine is toast. These are interference engines and if your belt blows so does your engine. Go now to a good mechanic or the "stealership" and spend the $750-$1000 to get it done. Now.
