My 1998 saturn sl2 blows the cooling fan fuse (30amp) when I turn the a/c on, what is causing this to happen? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx

Check the a/c fuses and a/c relay. You have a short somewhere.

Your cooling fan motor might be going bad. When they wear out they can draw too much current.

I've checked everything and it's still blowing the cooling fan fuse, now even when I don't turn on the a/c. What's up? What part controls when the cooling fan turns on and off?

Thanx,

Chris

Would a bad a/c compressor cause these problems?

Can cooling fan and a/c relays be tested?

The fan only has a regular fuse with its circuity. Check the a/c relay to be sure it not the problem. as in switch it with the fuse pump relay or ABS relay if you have one. All IIRC are the same relays, and should interchange with no issues.

I dont think a bad a/c pump will cuase this. However some diagnostic work is needed on your part. As in, unplug the a/c and turn the a/c switch on. still blowing fuses? yes no?

Same goes for the radiator fan. unplug it and see what happens. you need to narrow the problem down and unfortunately I am not there to actually see what actions get what effects :(
