1996 Tahoe Heater Core Replacementta_hoe 09-29-2008, 01:43 PM The heater core has started leaking in my Tahoe. Any one got any short cuts as far as pulling the dash completly out? Helps on getting the rights screws and bolts and trim and wiring undone and put back in. A lot of the wiring stays on back of dash just unplug it in right place. I think for sure that you should get the service manual first ...this will prepare you so as to know what tools are needed to complete this task...The internet is a great place to start.... the helms manuals are best... since you live in a warm climate until this can be completed connect the heater hoses together .....I believe they have at the auto parts stores adaptors to do this...I have my own that I made up from past heater core failures...gives you some time ... MT-2500 09-29-2008, 04:38 PM Can you buy a gm repair manual anywhere? No Most Gm factory manuals will have to be bought from the dealer. Sometimes you can find them on E Bay. Most public libraries now HAVE AUTO REPAIR INFORMATION. Some online to. Also check AZ auto repair online site. Some parts place have the Helms manuals or can get then for you. Another good repair program is the All Data online repair info sub. But it is a one car one year deal. I think it has gone to 26.95$ USA plastic for a year online sub and for for first sub. Second car sub on is half price.http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html Also check out how to section for some information but remember every year and make may be different.
