Unbelievable, it's raining again, three weekends in a row, I can't start the clear cote to mercedes Promarkt Zakspeed, so I decided to begin another project.

AMG Mercedes 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II Debis - FUJIMI
This is my first Fujimi kit, sorry people from Fujimi but this kit is awful.
The box is beautiful, isn't? Ok, just the box... let's go
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Debis1.jpg
Decal sheet in excellent shape. I will use this to enhance the kit
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Debis6.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Debis7.jpg
I scribed the panel lines and fit test.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Debis2.jpg
I will change the regular black seat for the race one
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Debis5.jpg
Preparing the ugly floor for the new seat
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/chasis2.jpg
The control panel have marks and it is not smooth, putty and sand.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/console-1.jpg
This two pieces are unbelievable inaccurate, weird, bizarre, what else? On the left we have a radiator, one hubcap, cables (they can stand there when the piece is glued in place). On the right we have a lot of things and, believe or nor, one wiper (what?)
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/interior.jpg
Lets remove everything, next victim the radiator... :evillol:
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/interior3.jpg
This is suppose to be the exhaust, can you believe it?
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/escape.jpg
Chrome stripped from the rims
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/rodas.jpg
The dashboard is pretty good
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/painel.jpg
The Mercedes logo was sanded, the real car has a decal.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/Debis8.jpg

Help me on this... :crying:

I hear ya on these Fujimi kits! :shakehead I built the Mercedes 190e also but it had the decals promoting the 2000 Olympic games for Berlin and that kit was the same with a standard car seat etc.
I'm also a big DTM fan with a couple of Opel Calibra's(UT Models which are out of production now) waiting in the works...can't wait to get started on them.
I look forward to seeing the end result from this kit and also your Promarkt-Zakspeed kit.:grinno:

Woohoo. Another DTM WIP from you.
And it seems you're taking on quite a challenge. Only experience I got with Fujimi is their more recent (first release) Ferrari F430. And that one is pretty decent.
But I've already read in other threads that their BMW and Mercedes DTM kits are pretty crap...

But judging by the work you've already done on the ProMarkt Merc, I have no doubts that you'll pull this one off very nicely.

Too bad about the weather over there. Just to rub a bit salt into that wound, we have nothing but great weather here in the Netherlands (for a change)...

Good luck with this one. I'll be following your progress closely !

i cannot agree with you more, soon you will realise if you build standard stock car kits that alot of Fujimi chassis for the cars are the same... i was trying to quick build some jap cars FC rx7, old supra and old starion... all their chassis, interior are exactly the same with the poorest detail and fit ever! so they turned from WIP to RIP :P

M-Tuning
09-28-2008, 06:19 AM
I also made a Fujimi DTM car:

http://www.m-tuning.nl/gallery/content/Completed%20Models/Mercedes%20C-Class%20DTM%20D2%201994/IMG_2555.jpg

The decals were pretty nice to work with.
But the body shape isn't correct and the interior is rubbish (same as yours)

But this model has only cost me about 10 euro's including paints, and is pretty nice for that price.

gasdriverca - wow, those UT models are very difficult to find it, isn't? I heard they are very well done. Hope to see it here soon.

DerXL - actually is a lot of challenge here and there. The Promarket is my first kit since 80's and this is the second one. Today is totally sunny day hope to get a free time to clear cote the yellow Mercedes. Thank you!

astonut - "so they turned from WIP to RIP"... don't give up!

M-Tuning - I agree, it is pretty nice for that price. Mine wasn't expensive too. Can I have some WIP pictures? I would like to see the cockpit pictures. thank you!

Here some progress, first I trashed this piece, it is useless...

Tha kit you have there is the car Michael Schumacher also drove,i think he only done three races in that car then he went to F1 and the rest is history.Do you have Schumi's name there on the decal sheet?
And for the UT models I fought hard for them on e-bay but i have the two Calibra's(bye bye KeKe,Hasseroder) but i am savouring them just now and looking for interior detail but you building these Mercedes kits are inspiring me,keep it up.

i have a lot of old fujimi kits. yes, the chassis is horrible for its the generic fujimi motorized chassis that they are using. i have the non DTM version of this car.

gasdriverca The Zakspeed Mercedes team was 18-Giroix, 19-Asch, 20-Schummacher and 88-Schneider, but the decal sheet is only for Asch.
Hope you start the UT Models, I never saw one finished yet. :grinyes:

evil_hanzel I had no ideia of the quality until open the box, I will finish the best I can.

After a long inactivity due my work and contretemps here at home, I am back to the workbench attempt to finalize my two models to the end of the year. Next week I am almost in vacation, then it is time to work.

New interior, I won't use the case used in road cars that is supplied with the kit, naked look is much better... I need to sand the floor to smooth the salience.
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b144/aalmeida/interior9.jpg

Finishing the chassis, as is racing old and used car, I made with aspect more dirty and old, I liked, accepted suggestions and comments... Alclad Steel, Chorme and Polished Aluminum, then a cover with Smoke, Black matte and Flat Earth all Tamiya.

I can't run away from my work... so, here is a little update,
Need to add some wires and hoses, put a little bottle, masked and painted with a light gray to simulate some liquid inside. The cable behind does not have any relation with the shift gear, just a cosmetic look for the ugly Fujimi kit.

SCORPIONFB Thank you and here we go...

One side, front and rear done, I shall leave to dry well and tomorrow I will finish the other side.
The decal are old and difficult to work with, I had lost a bit on hood but I will try paint after ready.
In the manual says the color is a mix of H45 + H25 (8:1), but does not says which colors are, very nice Fujimi!
As soon as I figure out those colors I will try to retouch.

The colours you mentioned (H25 and H45) are Gunze (actually GSI Creos) Mr. Hobby colours. Acrylic colours at that.
Here's the Mr. Hobby site:
http://www.mr-hobby.com/cgi/goods.cgi?category=2

However, I wonder wether H25 and H45 are the correct colours as they are blue shades. H26 and H46 do resemble the colour of the decals on your AMG, so that would be my best bet.

Maybe you can find alternatives for the Gunze colours here:
http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/stuff_eng_colorcharts_gunze.htm

Great build by the way.
Always looking forward to one of your updates. I just love you builds -> subject and execution.

I totally agree, those colors are wrong. How mixing shades of blue can turns on emerald green? I can not trust on this specific manual. H26 + H46 looks promising to me, thank you.

The right piece is provided by kit, the left was made with rods of styrene. Not finished yet.

This is made from styrene and intent to simulate some doors structure, no reference was used, just to simulate. Probably I will use some cables or something behind it.
