Might go TURBO afterall!?Self 03-15-2003, 09:03 AM Look what I might buy!!! My friend over on cz28.com is selling his Turbo kit for $2100. I don't have that much on me now, so I'm about to call up my father and see if he'll go half and half with me:D If I can get this kit for that price I"ll keep my car and install this over the summer! Wish me luck!!! http://ieng9.ucsd.edu/~ahartoun/t76.jpg That's him and the turbo...T76s are biiiiggggg:D Here's all the kit comes with... 60-1 Hi Fi turbo (good condition) Turbo manifold and crossover pipes downpipe 3" catalytic converter+s pipe so you can use any LT1 or LS1 catback with it Wastegate (5 psi spring) Front mount intercooler+all intake piping w/ BOV flange (ready for BOV)+All intake into turbo (K&N) Inline fuel pump Set of header gaskets Other misc parts needed to install probably some other parts I am forgetting, there is a lot of stuff The only thing it would need would be an FMU or custom programming and probably a few bolts (i'll try to get new ones for the buyer, but might forget a few, they are all standard size bolts). It would all bolt on except you will need to get the cat welded on and the s pipe as well. You can drive it with just the downpipe on to the exhaust shop and get it all welded up. What do you guys think?? Jetts 03-15-2003, 09:17 AM thats tight hope you get it Misundaztood 03-15-2003, 11:36 AM That's cool. Go for it. Hmmm....turbo lt1......begins drooling uncontrollably... Self 03-15-2003, 12:58 PM Hah, I really want to. I started going that route last summer but had to scrap it because I was going to be looking at around $7k+ and my car would be down the entire summer. Since then I've done a lot of the secondary stuff(new clutch, rear end, fuel system, couple other things) and I also have another car now(96 Z28) so it's a lot more feasible now. Only thing is...I don't have that kinda cash on me right now:( Wanna make me a loan anyone??:D carrrnuttt 03-15-2003, 01:57 PM Originally posted by Self Hah, I really want to. Uhm, you know, you're gonna have to wear a helmet everytime you drive that thing, right? YogsVR4 03-15-2003, 03:39 PM Sorry - no loans coming from here. But, I hope you can scrape the cash together to make it happen. Self 03-15-2003, 04:04 PM Originally posted by carrrnuttt DON'T DO IT! ...unless you're planning to drive that thing to AZ when it's done so I can *ahem* test-drive it:D. Turbo LT1 is definitely ultimate. Pretty big engine with BOOOOOST.. WHOOO!!!!! Just think... VROOOOOM-PSHH-VROOOOOOOM and your opponent is DONE FOR! Do it. 2100 is such a great deal. Spectrum 03-17-2003, 07:47 PM Why not just get more displacement  . Self 03-17-2003, 10:06 PM Originally posted by Spectrum Why not just get more displacement  . Haven't wanted to go stroker right now...Maybe sometime in the future though, we'll see. Did the stroker thing with a previous car, wanted an internally stock 350 this go around(mostly stock anyways). But also, can't quite match the kind of hp a turbo would generate with just a stroker upgrade. Oh...AND, let's not forget that I'm BROKE:D And a stroker would end up costing double that at least. GTi-VR6_A3 03-17-2003, 10:11 PM OMG SELF do it do it do it do it. man that turbo is huge wth... the sound will be beautiful combine the lovely sound of a v8 with the kikass sound of a BOV and well it will eb an automotive symphony... btw self what is your name mean. kuz i know of a group called self... -GTi-VR6_A3 Self 03-17-2003, 10:14 PM Originally posted by GTi-VR6_A3 OMG SELF do it do it do it do it. man that turbo is huge wth... the sound will be beautiful combine the lovely sound of a v8 with the kikass sound of a BOV and well it will eb an automotive symphony... btw self what is your name mean. kuz i know of a group called self... -GTi-VR6_A3 Yea, I really want to. Self 03-19-2003, 10:02 AM Originally posted by kaoru-tochiro Hey Self, does the kit come with one turbo or two turbos? (that thing is huge!!) It's a single turbo kit. RazorGTR 03-19-2003, 10:03 AM T76's are nice but bushed bearing cores, which means a bit laggy. Same with the T78 and T88's. Either way self the piping should be interesting as with a V8 you have 8 pipes to feed into that one small housing  . What about going twin turbo with say GT30's. Double Roller bearing corse :licker: DemonZX 03-19-2003, 10:04 AM That may be more practicle...But then why are we here if we like practicle?! Double Roller bearing corse :licker: Lag actually shouldn't be too awfully bad with my engine, it's a nice mate. Also, the piping is less of an issue with the single turbo than the twin, as far as fitament goes anyways. All you do is run a cross-over pipe from the drivers-side(I believe) exhaust manifold to the passenger side and send them both into a single pipe that leads to the turbo and intercooler etc.(from there it's like any other single turbo setup). With a twin turbo you have to run two pipes all the way form both sides of the engine to the intercooler and let's not forget that you have to stick another turbo in there somewhere:eek: Let's not forget how tight things are in the LT1 engine bay http://filebox.vt.edu/users/mself/forumspics/nitrous%20engine.jpg  :D civicHBsi91 03-19-2003, 01:58 PM lol, wanna loan that to me sell your benz yo :silly2: Supra650RSP 03-19-2003, 04:04 PM Perhaps there is a replacement for displacement :frog: Anyways, I say go for it, besides, with 8 cylinders feeding a single turbo you shouldn't have too much of an issue with lag. carrrnuttt 03-19-2003, 06:22 PM Lag is usually: slow>wait for boost>GO!
