2001 Venture - Stuck Front Brake Rotors

I can not brake free the rotors. Read somewhere that rotors can be cut off. Has any body done this? I yes, can you please post directions. Appreciate it.

I live in the middle of the rust belt and have never seen a rotor that wouldn't come off with a solid hit from behind with a 3lb drilling hammer. You have nothing to lose if you are going to replace the rotor and very little to lose if you are going to have the rotor machined.

there should be two holes in the rotor to put bolts in and pull the rotor off .i think are 1/4 #20 thread you screw the bolts in and tighten and they pull the rotor off.

Thanks for the reply. There are no holes on the rotors. Any other suggestion?

he was talking about the two pins that run threw caliper. take those out then you can get your roters off. he told you the size of alan wrench or torx it takes to get pins out.

yeah the calipers have to be removed and hang them up by a piece of wire that way you don't mess up the brake line. if the rotor is stuck to the hub then bump it with a rubber hammer or a block of wood put it on the backside of the rotor and pop the wood with a hammer then go to the other side put wood on backside of rotor and hit the wood . you don't want to hit the rotor with a metal hammer. the rotors somtimes stick in the center hole and it takes a good jar to free them.

Thanks for all the replies. The rotors were removed eventually by braking the rust bond between the rotor and backing plate (hub region of the rotor hat). KC.

I always coat the mating surface of the hub with anti-seize compound before putting rotors on....fixes the rusting problem permanently....
