removing front brake pads from caliper?

ok can someone tell me how to remove the pads from the caliper. what the trick, do you bend the tabs?:banghead:

I remove the two bolts holding them on. Then I use a screw driver and pry them up. After the caliper passes the rotor I remove them and use a c-clamp and depress the piston install new shoes and replace the caliper. Don't open the bleed screw if you don't know how to bleed them.

thanks, it worked just fine after i spent a few minutes looking at it. now i need to know if the rear brakes are shot? i long do they last in comparison to the front. I only got 52,000 original miles out of the front disc brakes. Its a 2001 EXP.

Do you have drum or rear disk brakes it makes a difference.
