How to tell which transmission is in my wife's 1978 Olds Delta 88 Royale.

How to tell which transmission is in my wife's 1978 Olds Delta 88 Royale.

Maybe I should clarify this. In the maintenance manual it states that the transmission is either a Turbo Hydro-Matic 200, 350 400&425. I'll be pulling the pan and replacing the gasket and filter so I need to know which transmission she has.

Usually, the trans has the ID stamped on the oil pan. The most common for 1978 was the TH200, or TH350.

count how meny bolt holes thats goes into tranny and the shape of it and look at pan if you cant see the numbers outside they will be inside when you drop the pan.
