PA Door Drain Holes?

In previous cars I had, there was always a drain hole somewhere on the bottom of each door. I cannot find them on my PA.

How does water that gets inside the doors supposed to drain out? I notice that each time after I go through a car wash and lower and raise the windows afterward, there is quite a bit of water on the windows for at least a day.

They must be there. I've seen some that are a little higher than you might expect.

If your car is a 2000 pull the rubber molding at the bottom of the door...four phillip screws drop it down and clean it all out.

Thank you. I'll give it a try on the next nice day.

I can't belive more of you do not see a problem here.
On my search for a used Park Avenue. Every 97 to 2005 I've looked at had rust issues on the bottom of the doors.

Finally I found a non winter driven 2000 PA which I immediately picked up.

Now I'm searching for a way to prevent rust on the bottom of the doors. Since I plan on driving it year round. Which in southern Ontario means salted road.

I've tried locating those holes but never found them. If you find a way to deal with winter/salt rust please post.

So far I've removed my lower door molding/trim/weatherstriping.
There is are 2 drain holes. One in the front and back of each piece of trim.
Problem is the are many clips, in between the holes which will prevent water from flowing to the ends to each drain.

So far I've considered drilling more holes, cutting out parts of the bottom of the trim. Not putting it back on, gluing some kind of flat trim to the outside of the door which will leave the bottom open.

I studied the lower trim today. After removing all 4 and considering leaving them off, I think we need a better solution. With the trim removed the bottom of the door is left with 2 seperate pieces left loose. The inner and outer skin are left dangling without support of the trim and it sounds loose when you slam the door. The trim holds it all together.

The drain holes are only for water that has snuck in behind the trim from the INSIDE of the door. Inside meaning door to interior. In between the door drains out INTO the trim with no way out. There is the big problem. I can' believe we build cars for 100 years and Buick decides to come out with this design.
The water falling down the outside of the door and sneaking behind the trim is also a problem. It has no way out.

By the way. Not only is the door skin loose without the trim. It looks ugly. Let's put our heads together and come up with a solution.

RT Jam:

Thank you for posting your efforts to resolve this problem. I hope to speak with some friends who do their own bodywork and see if they have any suggestions without making the problem worse.

I keep replacing trim screws as they rust but I realize that the screws are just an indication of what's going on in the door.

I was hoping to keep this PA for a long time since it only has 74k miles and I drive it about 3k miles a year.

Thanks again for posting.
