Hey Guys,

I replaced the starter that died in our 2000 Chevy Venture, and I am still getting a whining sound that coincides with starting the vehicle. :banghead:

I thought the sound was from the old starter dying...

Any ideas?

...and NO it's not the wife. :P

Hmm. Need to hear the sound I guess. Its only when starting? Goes away when you let go of the key during startup?

I'd look at the two plastic covers that surround the starter to cover the ring gear up. These are access plates that perhaps could get stuck on the ring gear and make a noise, but if so, they wouldn't last very long and soon would not cause any noise at all!

How long has it been doing this and you sure its coming from the engine and not the cabin somewhere?
John
